Our History

Scott Funeral Home has been a trusted part of the Jeffersonville and Southern Indiana community for nearly a century. The tradition began in 1930, when William M. Scott and Lois B. Scott established Combs & Scott Funeral Home at 211 E. Maple Street in Jeffersonville—today known as the Bliss House.

In 1937, following devastating floods, the funeral home was relocated to the corner of Graham and Court Avenue, where the Scott family continued to serve the community until 1954. At that time, they built a new facility at 921 Main Street, which remains in service today as Legacy Funeral Center – Scott Chapel. For decades, this location was the cornerstone of the family’s commitment to care, compassion, and community.

As the community grew, so did the vision for Scott Funeral Home. In 2001, the Scott Funeral Home North Chapel was built at 2515 Veterans Parkway. This state-of-the-art facility sits on seven acres and includes a spacious funeral home, private on-site crematory, and our pet cremation service, Faithful Companions. Today, both the Veterans Parkway and Main Street locations remain open to meet the needs of families throughout Southern Indiana.

Scott Funeral Home continues to be proudly family-owned and operated. Now in its fourth generation, funeral directors William W. “Billy” Scott and Aaron M. Scott carry forward the legacy of service, compassion, and dedication to families that began with their great-grandparents in 1930.
