A Celebration of Life for Mabel Unglaub, 93, of Louisville, KY will take place on Friday, December 29 at 2 PM at the Bennett Place, New Albany, IN. Cremation was chosen and Scott Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
During WWII, Mabel left the Ontario, New York farm where she was born and volunteered for military service. She was accepted into the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), a unit of the US Naval Reserve. After proudly serving in Washington DC, she moved to Louisville, KY. She remained an active member of the WAVES unit, was a docent emeritus of the Louisville Zoo, and a member of the Louisville Hiking Club. She retired from the Jefferson County Public School System after many years of service.
Mabel is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Unglaub.
Mabel is survived by her daughters, Joris Kramer (Roland), Joan Bonge (Edward), Jean Unglaub, and Judy Unglaub; grandchildren, Brook Kramer (Maria) and Lisa Hall (Gregory); and 4 great grandchildren.
In honor of Mabel, memorial contributions can be made to the Louisville Zoo.
